Twin Story

Another chapter begins.

Due to lack of time and laziness, it’s been long time since I updated the blog with new content.

So here we go again! Once upon a time, we decided to grow our family after our toddler turned 2 years old to minimize the age gap between kids.

Soon after, we got the happiest news:  Taaaaa Daaaaaa… We Are Pregnant Again!

SURPRISE!

Later, we had our first sonogram appointment, and as usual we were constantly taking photos or short videos of the screen. Thankfully, all was good.

While video recording the screen in front of me, I heard the doctors whispering about something that hadn’t even realized, but was pretty obvious once I heard it mentioned.

I was in complete shock. Never, ever had it crossed my mind at all, not even for one second. I Couldn’t hold back my excitement, and yelled to my husband: ”we’re having twins!!” Aaaaah!  Unbelievable!

I turned to the doctors: Are you sure!!  Twins?  How?  Where? Show me, now!

That week was like dream to me

Then pregnancy symptoms started to hit me hard from the beginning, with continuous nausea, heart burn, dizziness and hunger all the time.  I was craving all kinds of food – specially Thai.

The 1st trimester completed, and we are now in the 2nd which is supposed to be a honeymoon pregnancy period.  Na, Na, Na, this is what i wished for.

As months goes by, I count the days and nights to reach my next check-up, obsessing about their health. I have been through some difficulties like iron deficiency and extreme exhaustion that required me to be prescribed bed rest.

The 3rd trimester kicked in deeply with all the pregnancy sickness you can imagine – emotionally and physically.

I finally reached 34 weeks, when the doctor decides which type of delivery based on babies positions. Both were breech, and for that a C-section was scheduled for the first week of month 9 if no early labor signs occurred.

Surgery

Finally, we reached 37 weeks as planned. I’m so thankful that I could carry those angels for 9th months.

Surgery took place on Sunday the 1st of August, and I got spinal anesthesia. I witnessed the whole show, and was able to talk and respond.

Recovery

Later, I spent half day in the monitoring area before moving back to my original room. After 24 hours, I was requested to start walking to make sure bowel movements were normal and recovery is under process.

The first 2 days after the C-section was the hardest, since I had iron deficiency causing me dizziness and blurred vision. With the help of family, I managed to take the first steps.

Lastly

Nothing about this is easy even if you have previous experience. Every child is different and comes with his or her own personality. With twins, it is even harder and you need all the support you can get to survive the challenging times. Luckily I had that, and I am grateful for it.

I am living my best life & creating memories with my kids.

To the Mamas out there, no matter how difficult it is to raise the baby in their early days, it will pass.  Just do not forget yourself – go out for walk, go on dates, or ride in the car just to be refreshed and get more energy.

Sleep deprivation will hit hard. Be patient and take naps as much as you can. Do not be hard on yourself.  Invite family members to take care of the baby for a couple of hours while you get some rest.

This little creature will grow up fast, so start to record all of the memories and giggles along the way.
